Well what can I say about the Sweet Chilli and Red Pepper Tyrells? Should I start with their mighty crunch or perhaps the warm embrace of cayenne pepper and jalepeno? Maybe even the fact that they use no artificial ingredients?
No I am going to start, much like the humble Lady Claire potato, at the roots and work my way up.

On first inspection you are drawn into the magnificent packaging, every mm of space has been scrutinised for perfection, perhaps by the keen eye of an artiste or even a fine jeweller? My attention dances between moustaches, bold primary colours, interesting facts and hilarious quips.
Did you know that Tyrells Sweet Chilli and Red Pepper are gluten free and vegan friendly? Truly a crisp for the people I hear you cry.
Search around the bag and you will find both lifestyle advice, in the form of a recommended five a day and serving suggestions, “extinguish with a pint of bitter” it reads, don’t mind if I do.

Now it is at this point I would like to remind readers of the sumptuous pabulum that slumbers inside the packet, often have I found myself so lost in the imagery of the packaging that I almost forget to dive in. This would be a travesty.

I pull myself back from the edge of my consciousness and carefully open the bag. Upon doing so I am met with a dazzling glisten of light as it darts around the inside of the foil packet, a fresh waft of onion, tomato and basil reaches out and tickles my nostrils. I am overwhelmed by the delicate aroma of the potatoes themselves. The ones in question are of the Lady Claire variety and are cooked in small batches much like the techniques used in making fine whiskeys and bourbons . Small batches lead to higher quality due to the artisanal processes used and in my opinion they simply cannot be reproduced on a larger scale.

I reach in and grab a crisp, each one perfect yet individual, again down to the hand cooked nature of the product. Upon tasting I am greeted first by the sweetness of the pepper, then a white pepper heat and a very long garlic and chilli finish. The flavour lingers seductively and invites you to savour each bite.

My favourite time of day to enjoy these is out in the park with friends, dare I say it with a cold clean lager and a hefty supply of assorted sandwiches.

When finished I often sit in contemplation and deliberate over whether or not I should have used one of the delicious Tyrells dips, “There’s always tomorrow” I say to myself.

So to end I prompt YOU to look to the future also, look after yourself, look after your taste-buds and look for Tyrells Sweet Chilli and Red Pepper crisps the next time you’re out and about.

I was lucky enough to receive some Tyrrell’s crisps in the post and I’m so glad I did. To start with, the packaging to me shouts quality product. My favourite flavour so far is Sweet Chilli and Red Pepper for the simple fact you get a great combination of sweet and savoury. I like the thickness of the crisps as I like to have them with a dip so there’s no need to sit there fishing out broken crisps and getting sticky fingers as they don’t break. Perfect packaging, perfect taste. Quality product!

Without a doubt the tastiest variety of Tyrells crisps. Deliciously sweet, yet still pack a punch – the heat is far from overwhelming, but pleasantly powerful. The crisps are absolutely packed with flavour, with hints of tomato and garlic as well as the pepper and chilli coming through as you crunch down. And speaking of the crunch, the texture is delightful. So grab a packet of these as soon as you can, crack open a beer, sit back and enjoy. I guarantee you won’t want to share them!

Delightfully spiced and deliciously sweet, this bag of Tyrrell’s is the perfect partner to any night in, or any impromptu snack attack. Delicious and hearty, these crisps provide just the right balance of sweet pepper goodness (which you may tell yourself counts for one of your five a day) and subtle spicy edge. Whilst perfect for sharing, be warned, this packet won’t last long. Moreish and bursting with flavour, this packet of Tyrrell’s is an absolute triumph for any crisp lover who’s looking for a decent tingle of the tastebuds!

I’m always looking for anti-oxidants in food and the bright colours of Red Pepper and Chilli are packed with them. These crisps have a kick but not so hot as to make you purse your lips, just perfect for someone who likes a little bit of heat in their treat.

It’s hard to put them down to write a review! They are charmingly hot (you won’t need to run for the glass of water) with subtle undertones of Red Pepper and thankfully not really sweet. You’ve got it so right Tyrells. Thank you!

    Rating:

Almost the perfect taste sensation! A cracking combination of flavours with the chilli heat just right so as not to overpower the tastebuds. A little too sweet for my liking, however and could do with perhaps a smoky note to curb the sweetness. Overall a fantastic bag of crunchiness though. Goes well with a nice dry real ale.

packed with real bite, with a distintive flavour of sweet chill that’s never over-powering. the combination with red pepper makes this is delightfully moreish crisp! I kept putting down the bag, saying to myself, I can’t possibly eat them ALL. Then picking up the bag again….

The only thing wrong with these crisps – the bags are just too small and one bag is never enough! The taste: mouth-watering; the crunch: deafening to the ears! Mmmm! Bring on some more!

YUM! Never tried this flavor before so, I was rather excited, and my expectations were high.
MMMMM! I opened the bag, to be encased with the smell of chilli. Then as I pulled the largest one out, I bit in, to find my taste buds in tangles, going crazy with the taste. It tastes like heaven! So crunchy and tasty! I will defiantly keep buying Tyrrells!

Just sat down to an afternoon of me time with a big bag of Tyrrells Sweet Chilli and Red Pepper crisps and by George what an experience it was. First of let me say that calling these snacks ‘crisps’ is a travesty! When one says crisp they straight away conjure up images of the sort or potato based product advertised by ex-footballers which are enjoyed by the unwashed masses. Well, no such worry here as this superior ‘crisp’ has no place in the hands of the common man, in fact never before has a food been more suited to being consumed by a chap wearing a tweed suit and enjoying a good pipe now and again. The crisps are thick and crunchy and it is evident that the Lady Rosetta potatoes used are of the highest quality. As soon and you bite down you are immediately reminded of a better time when an English man could be proud of what his country produces and then the taste hits you! What to say about the taste…chilli and red pepper, colonial is what best springs to mind. A time when England ruled the world and took all the best bits from the Empire to further enhance our greatness! And then we come to the packaging, it is noted on the front that a pint of bitter is needed with these crisps and I couldn’t agree more, what could possibly b more English? Tyrrells, I tip my hat to you on a magnificent job well done! Long may it continue and God Save The Queen!

At the age of 53 and born in the city where it appeared most crisps come from with ads fronted by a ex footballer ,it was a breath of fresh air (well sweet chilli air actually) i stumbled across these crisps. The packaging a work of genius even my ever crictical 16 year old son agrees with me on that (praise in deed). Twas a delightful summer’s day in June when I happened to stumble upon my first encounter with these irresistible treats. The decision to try something new was definitely worth it, for I had now discovered potato crisps surpassed by none other. The first bite delivered that perfect crunch sensation we have all been anticipating from our crisps for decades. Then the sweet red pepper immediately takes you away to that Greek taverna dining experience from dreams, followed by what I found much more scrumptious, the sweet chilli kick. Being a devoted fan of chillis; this was no letdown. Hence to say, I have since spent an altogether astounding amount of my savings (and not least, time) devouring these beauties, and will continue to do so undoubtedly.

Over the course of time, man has created many wondrous things. The Wheel. Electricity. Gravity.
The inventors of such ground breaking stuff could never have imagined that one day they would be wiped off the map like a Dragon’s Den reject, but the day is upon us. The Nobel Prize selection board need look no further.
Take a deep breath and allow me to introduce you to the 9th wonder of the world, the legend that is the Tyrrell’s Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper potato crisp. Now, I’m no expert in spud science or crisp manufacturing, but the work, knowledge and equipment that must have contributed to producing this piece of potato perfection is clearly on a whole new level. It simply cannot be replicated, so I would imagine Walkers are bricking it, to say the very least.
My experience of Tyrrell’s Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper Potato Crisps began a few months ago, and I’m proud to confess to have been using these on a regular basis as part of a well balanced diet. Well, when I say balanced, they are practically all I eat, but given their nutritional value, and a mere 450 calories per 100g serving, I consider them to be all of my 5-a-day and then some.
Upon purchasing a packet of Tyrrell’s Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper potato crisps, which can I add are ridiculously good value for money given the overall quality, you will notice the packaging is spot on. The look of the bag alone is worth a few quid, and the design keeps your precious ware so intact and safe, you could quite happily double it up as a summer duvet, or pop a Puppy in it for long journeys.
As you open the bag, the initial ‘POP’ is accompanied by the sound of angels crying with joy. This is closely followed by an aroma so satisfying, the Bisto kids have gone off gravy. If you make it this far without paddling in your own saliva, fair play, you’ve completed the small step for crisp-man, but here comes the giant leap for crisp-kind. That said, if you’ve not put one in your mouth at this point, now is the time to do so.
You will agree, the taste is something that not even Greg off of Masterchef could explain. You’ll instantly feel as though you’ve matched 5 numbers and the bonus ball on the lottery. The sweetness of the Red Pepper is complimented by the fiery tang of the Chilli, which explodes on your tongue like Guy Fawkes on a petrol station forecourt. The crunchy texture is something to truly savour, and shows that this is no ordinary crisp, obviously prepared in extraordinary ways.
Obviously, when you eventually finish your incredible packet of Tyrrell’s Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper potato crisps, there will be an immense feeling of warmth and happiness, like a hug from your best mate, but also a brief sense of emptiness, this is very normal, but can be easily resolved by getting your wallet out, nipping to your nearest stockist, and sorting yourself out with another couple of bags. Pronto.
Overall, there is nothing better you will find on the market to smash your hunger and brighten your day. If you like Red Pepper, if you like Sweet Chilli, if you love supreme standard Potato Crisps, and if you’ve got any sense, then I tell thee, whack your lips around a bag of Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper Tyrrells.
